Stay in a beautiful rammed earth lodge alongside other fellow building enthusiasts and be part of a group building the new bread oven for the guest house. Immerse yourself in the Moroccan experience. You’ll be within walking distance of the shopper-friendly souks where you can do last minute Christmas shopping. You can also relax in the new hammam or book yourself a massage. Whatever your motivation, whether it’s your first venture into earth building, your hobby or you’re an old hand, you’ll find an amazing network of staff and guides who will endeavour to make your stay special. The holiday will include a visit to our guide Dounia’s family village. We’ll be invited to share a traditional tagine meal and visit traditional Berber homes. We’ll visit the village pottery, which has a beautiful traditional kiln and where some of the tiles for the site are being made. This is an opportunity to enjoy a holiday with a difference. Claudio Bravo

The bread oven will resemble the one at the Claudio Bravo museum on the outskirts of Taroudant. A visit to this extraordinary house can be added to the schedule with an additional entrance fee and travel costs.

On a recent visit to Taroudant to learn more about traditional Moroccan building methods I came back with the desire to create a holiday for other building enthusiasts. The building project I visited is the creation of Jane Bayley. Jane has had an award winning eco guest house in Taroudant for over 25 years and provides sustainable and ethical “Holidays with Heart”.

Building this new ecological, rammed earth guest house has been a dream for years and is now becoming a reality. Work is continuing over the summer and the new ecolodge complex will house its first guests in November.

Lonely Planet have selected “La Maison Anglaise” as one of their Top 10 ecostays in the world 2014, and as a Trip advisor Number One. Jane and the staff are committed to ethical and sustainable tourism. They support local projects such as bee keeping, women’s cooperatives, wildlife conservation and permaculture to name only a few.

Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment and for the best deals on flights.

The new guest house is located right under the impressive ancient walls of Taroudant in the fertile Souss Valley between two mountain ranges: the lofty High Atlas and the parched Anti-Atlas bordering the Sahara.   Away from the principal tourist trails the group will experience a genuine Moroccan market town soaking up the local culture and the sun. Even in winter, the daytime temperatures are 20-26˚ C falling to only 8-12˚ at night. See  more on weather.
The perfect place to relax at the end of the day will be the new 20 meter long, chlorine free, pool.
